Welcome to our first blog post! Each month, we will share stories of overflow. What's overflow? At Cups, overflow is the result of community connections, neighbors supporting neighbors, and God's provision. There is always a story to share!
New Name - Same Mission
After 18 years as Cups Cafe, we are now Cups Collective. Although our name and logo have changed, we remain focused on our mission to serve hope. As Cups has always been more than a cafe, it was important to change the name to something more reflective of who we are. Since our beginnings, we have gathered together people, resources, food, and connections to help our community. We have always been a collective - now our name reflects that. Additionally, everything we do is centered around God, who is our ultimate provider.

community partners
One of the most common ways we experience the benefits of overflow is through community partners. For us, that can range from individual families, businesses, churches, or other nonprofit organizations. Some give frequently and others give one time. All efforts are welcomed and gratefully accepted. Here are a few of our friends - be sure to support them as you are able!
Sandridge Crafted Foods - weekly donations of prepared soups and salads
Cupcake a Day - almost weekly donations of prepared cupcakes
Buehler's River Styx - weekly donations of bread and baked goods
UCC Medina - monthly donation of prepared meal
Prince of Peace Medina - monthly donation drives (nonperishables, socks, paper products)
Automation Tool & Die - biweekly donation of specialty meals for students
Food Rescue US Akron - monthly or more donations of rescued food
radical hospitality
Radical hospitality at Cups means that our friends experiencing homelessness, the student needing a safe space to study, and the local business owner all sit at the same tables and receive the same level of dignity and care. When someone comes to us for a hot meal, a shower, or a safe space, they aren't clients or cases - they are our guests! We don't ask for proof of need. If you are hungry, we feed you. If you need something to take home, we have a self-serve pantry and food fridge. If you are in need of hope, you have come to the right place, because at Cups, hope is always on the menu. Because we have community partners and neighbors that share out of their overflow, we can provide a space where radical hospitality is the norm.

Grateful for the Overflow
Over the last 3 years, I have watched God's provision pour out over Cups through our community. It has been humbling to live in a posture of open-handedness, with expectation that the Lord will do what He said he would. Psalm 23:5 (nlt) reminds us that "You (the Lord) prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings." I am so grateful for the overflow and excited to continue to share the stories with you!
